Thinking Largo

Post by Rossey »

Hello,

I'm considering a largo for my next car.

I need a big boot, I'm always lugging stuff about.

The missus likes the big boot and the idea of the of the seats turning into a bed for a cheeky weekend get aways.

I do have some questions.

Are the seats totally removable as in becomes a van, that would be handy.

Im looking to run it on veg oil, I've run a number of cars on veg, any issues with these? Are the engines idi?

I've seen some with towbars what weight can these things pull?
Also how much does the largo weigh?

Will it tow a caravan?

Spares, readily available?
Special websites for spares?

Things to look out for while hunt?

I know they rust, do they a cambelt or chain?
What's the auto box like.

Is the stereo hole a true double din or a Japanese sized double din?

Thanks in advance for any advice given. happie

Seats come out easy in back if fold up type lambo style. Middle bench seat not sure but will unbolt. Largos around 1.678 tone i think. A petrol will tow a caravan better. Spares Available links on forum. Auto is great top can take awhile if cold but it's just character make sure the fluid is cherry red. Diesel belt ......petrol chain. Mod the shocks to vito if towing a curryvan and check leaf spring, 300 sqid if you need a new un. I use LPG 260 mile for 38 sqid. welcome along.

Welcome along
I love my largo. Best vehicle I've had.

Most is answered above by subsoil.

Once gearbox is warmed up a little mine goes like shit off a shovel for a auto. Can hit 60mph in a fraction under 10seconds.

The double dins fit straight in.

Main spots for rust is under side skirts and just behind them under bus there's a panel that goes up to the bottom of the bus, also check the underside of the rear floor pan and behind the rear bumper. You can do this by feel up under the bumper from underneath.

The main issue is too check see if it stalls when on full lock. Then do the same with everything like lights, ac, stereo on. Basically put it under as much load as possible and lock the wheels to full lock each way a few times.

It should idle at around 800rpm when warm.

Loads do run veg oil but in long run its not good on the pump and obviously harder to run in winter as oil thickens but for the price of a litre of veg oil you may as well just get normal diesel.

The 7 seater is alot easier for you to use like a van as rear row folds up out of the way and the middle row rotates front facing, side facing or rear facing and its only 4 bolts to remove(only a five mine job)

Parts are sourceable from various places or just ask on here in help section and im sure one of us can point you in the right direction.
Garages are not very knowledgeable about them though.

I've taken the plunge.
My largo will be here next week.

Two questions
Where can I get a towbar from?
I read about A1 but mines 4 wheel drive.

Second,
How do I convert the speedo to mph?

Brill. Post some pics once you get it.
Not sure about where to get the towbar done. I do have one in the shed that came off a 4wd but still debating on wether to fit it.
The clocks you can either buy a conversion box or it can be done with a soldering iron. Have a read of the thread below. You'll have to type it into search bar:
KM/h to mph with soldering iron
